May has been an exciting month!
We celebrated the graduation of the first five graduate students from the Dowling lab! Dr. Elvis Eugene, Dr. Alejandro Garciadiego, Dr. Xian Gao, Dr. Bridgette Befort, and Nicole Cortes (M.S.). Graduation is bittersweet to lose such great members of the team, although everyone has exciting next steps in their professional careers.
Earlier this month, I got the exciting news that I will be promoted to Associate Professor with tenure effective in July! Thank you to all of my students, collaborators, friends, and family for your hard work, exciting research challenges, and support.
I also received the university-wide Mentoring Award from the Graduate Student Government. This is an especially special award because I was nominated and selected by the graduate students.
Now that the semester is over, we are switching to summer mode. We have a lot of great ongoing research projects. I am looking forward to sharing these later this year with the community at conference and in journal papers.
